Excerpts from the transcript:

Dmitry Medvedev meets with President of Switzerland Ueli Maurer

Dmitry Medvedev: Mr President, I am delighted to welcome you to Moscow.

We met six years ago, in Davos in 2013. How time flies! You are again holding the post of President of the Swiss Confederation. I have very warm recollections of my state visit to Switzerland in September 2009.

This year, I visited Switzerland to attend international events. I also visited a number of very important facilities.

Our bilateral relations are based on mutual respect. I believe we have learned to take each other’s interests into account over these years. I hope that your visit will provide an additional impetus to our ties in the economy and humanitarian projects and will help address several other matters, including on the international agenda.

Mr President, I am delighted to welcome you to Moscow.

Ueli Maurer (via interpreter): Mr Prime Minister, ladies and gentlemen,

I am glad to be making this visit, because Russia is regarded with great affection in Switzerland. I have great personal sympathy for Russia as well. I started learning about Russia through literature and music, as well as sports, in particular, ice hockey, which made a great impression on me. Of course, we are talking here about very good relations, as proved by our meetings and your visit in 2009. We can continue to improve our relations. We can continue to strengthen our interaction and cooperation. It is true that our relations are imbued with mutual respect and goodwill. It is a wonderful basis for the further development of our relations.

I would like to thank you for the affection and support we receive from Russia.
