Dmitry Medvedev meets with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin

Dmitry Medvedev: Welcome and congratulations on your appointment to the post of Prime Minister. You are familiar with government work, so I cannot say that this is an altogether new story for you. One thing is clear, though: if before it was possible to hide behind someone else, you are now personally responsible for everything that happens. This is complex and important work. I will be pleased to do this work together with you.

I wish you success in achieving Kazakhstan’s current goals, our goals in the Eurasian Economic Union, and, of course, our countries’ ambitious programmatic goals.

We spoke regularly during bilateral and EAEU consultations. Now we will do so more often. Of course, I’m always ready to discuss these and other matters by phone and during one-on-one meetings.

Thank you for making a visit to our country. Though quite compact, it will allow us to discuss economic matters, some cultural issues, as well as a number of ambitious projects that we are working on together both one-on-one and in an expanded format with our colleagues.

Of course, my colleagues and I are at your disposal.

Please convey my personal greetings and the greetings from President Vladimir Putin to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and our best wishes in view of the ongoing political processes in your country.

Askar Mamin: Thank you, Mr Medvedev. We enjoy dynamic relations across the entire range of our cooperation. They are supported by the strategic course developed by the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President Vladimir Putin, the recent visit by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russia and his meeting with Vladimir Putin, as well as existing agreements, which are critical to developing our bilateral relations. Today’s meeting is a good opportunity to discuss practical steps to implement these agreements.

Thank you very much, Mr Medvedev, for the opportunity to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues today. You are correct: we have an extensive agenda, not only in the bilateral format, but also as part of our integration associations and international organisations. Kazakhstan remains focused on promoting neighbourly and mutually beneficial relations between our countries. I’m confident that the format that exists today will continue in terms of achieving the most effective cooperation between our countries.

Dmitry Medvedev: Let's get to work then.
